Shared Education with P7 - 'playing' at being Victorians

3rd Dec 2019

P7s had another chance to take a step back in time on Monday, owing to their Shared Education Icebreaker session with the Model and St Nicholas'.  After our Icebreaker games, we merged the schools and divided the pupils into 6 groups.

Each group had a chance to visit 6 different stations.  Each station gave the children an opportunity to participate in a Victorian games - leisure activities which would have been popular in the Victorian era.

We played marbles, a clapping game (A sailor went to sea, sea, sea - remember?) and hopscotch, which some people found easier than others.  We tried to get the ball-in-the-cup and challenged each other to beat a score.  We played Xie-Osies and got tangled as we practised our skipping.

Children today tend to have a lot of technology which they fill their time with, but everyone enjoyed honing their skills in a different way.

PS:  the favourite games were marbles and ball-in-a-cup!
