Shannaghmore 2026

12th May 2026
💙 WE’VE ARRIVED! 💛 With more luggage than a group of world travellers who are off on a year-long trip, we left Carrick for Shannaghmore this morning and have all arrived in one piece! After getting all of our gear, and enjoying a delicious lunch, we got settled into our rooms and headed out to Tollymore Forest Park for our adventure walk! We had a fantastic time….. 🌳 Then this evening we headed to Murlough Beach to enjoy some time outdoors, before Mrs Nelson and Miss McConkey threw a great big 11th birthday party for one of our own! 🥳 Everyone has settled in really well, and will be ready for a good night’s sleep, before we head out for our first full day of activities tomorrow! 💙💛 See less     💙💛 Day 2 Shannaghmore 💙💛 Today was a very busy day for us at Shannaghmore and we are all exhausted (that’s just the adults!) 😴 We got up after a great night’s rest, and got ready for a day of wet bouldering at Bloody Bridge and scrambling at Pigeon Rock! We got into buoyancy aids and wetsuits and headed up to Bloody Bridge, where Bouldering was fantastic, with lots of us getting the chance to brave the cold water and jump and slide into rocky pools along the Bloody Bridge river. Mrs Nelson only fell in the once, which we thought was a super achievement! 🤩 Later in the day, we headed to Pigeon Rock for scrambling, which involved crawling in and out of little caves and crevices in the mountain! Some of us were in very small spaces, and were very brave! After another delicious meal, we enjoyed some time in the Shannaghmore Forest! We headed for a walk around the boundary of Shannaghmore and got to see how the wall protected the centre from the recent wildfires. We finished off the night by practising our fire skills using flint and steel, and then roasting marshmallows! 🔥 We have a huge day tomorrow so we’re all planning to get an early night     💛💙 Shannaghmore Day 3! 💛💙 Today was an absolutely amazing day because we headed off on a canoe adventure to Strangford Lough! 🛶 We set off in our canoes and headed out onto the lough, where we saw loads of birds and even a few seals enjoying the sunshine! We paddled all the way to Salt Island, where we stopped off and enjoyed a delicious packed lunch! After a dander round the island to enjoy the view, it was back into the boats, where some serious splashing between teams took place! It was a race to the finish, with all teams pulling hard to get to the harbour first! We even used windsheets to make our own sails! At the end, we all had a good splash about in the sea before heading home on the bus! Tonight we’re having our ‘Where’s Wally’ theme night and some games, before getting packing up and ready for our final day!     💛💙 The Last Night 💛💙 Tonight we finished off with a ‘Where’s Wally?’ theme night where we all came dressed as our favourite little striped fellow, and played some good old fashioned hide and seek, Hunts and Sardines in the forests of Shannaghmore! What a bunch of Wallys!     💙💛 Fan Jump Fridays at Shannaghmore 💙💛 Today’s activity was the one we’d all been looking forward to the most - the high ropes! After breakfast we left back all of our gear and harnessed up, ready to face the climbing wall and the fan jump! 🧗🏻‍♀️ This class demonstrated incredible bravery and resilience as they climbed to the top of the fan jump and stepped off the edge - it was exhilarating!!! Everyone pushed themselves to their limits, facing fears and trying new things! What a way to finish off an incredible week. Our instructors at Shannaghmore were just the best, the food was amazing and we’ve even received compliments on our behaviour and manners! 🤩 P7 Shannaghmore over and out!
