P7 data investigation!
P7 have been learning all about the Titanic in our topic work this term. This week we conducted an investigation into the number of lifeboats onboard the Titanic, and their capacity.
First, we had to organise the data we had been given and present it into a table. We had to calculate the capacity of each lifeboat and then work out the percentage of seats filled. We were really surprised to find out that only 2 of Titanic’s lifeboats were filled to 100% capacity.
After we had completed our table, we then used Apple spreadsheets to present our data. We learnt how to use formulas to add and subtract in a spreadsheet. We also learnt how to use the data in the spreadsheet to create a bar chart which would compare the numbers of passengers in each class who were rescued.
Finally, we analysed our data and added some text to explain the trends we noticed in the data!
