Primary 3 have been learning all about directions and the points of the compass! Today we went outside and drew our own compasses on the playground in chalk! Then we added the compas points - North, South, East and West! 🧭
We discussed how we could use a mnemonic to remember the compass points - like Naughty Elephants Squirt Water 🐘
Our challenge was to make up our own silly sentence to help us remember the compass points. Some of our ideas were:
Never Eat Soggy Waffles
Naughty Eggs Sitting Well
Never Eat Stupid Wellies
Named Elephants Soggy Wheat
We then played a game- pointing, then running the correct direction! Miss McConkey even tried to trick us a couple of times by pointing the wrong way!
Finally, we came back to class and challenged ourselves to remember the compass points, and our silly sentences! 🤪
